Are your students ready for the Monster Exchange? |
||||||||
Monster Exchange is designed to encourage the development of reading and writing skills while integrating internet and videoconferencing technology into the classroom curriculum. If you decide to participate, your class will be split into groups, each of which will be partnered with a group from another school. Each group will design an original picture of a monster. The students will then write a description of their monster. The partnered groups will exchange their descriptions on the project website. The groups will use reading comprehension skills to translate the description into a monster picture. The true challenge involves creating a redrawn picture as close to the original picture based on the written description without looking at the picture drawn by the partner group. This project will consist of 2 videoconferences:
Between videoconferencing connections all work will be done in the classroom. This project is an adaptation of the international Monster Exchange project (http://www.monsterexchange.org). The Monster Exchange addresses Ohio English/Language Arts content standards. |
